I taught Pre-K for one year in California at a Military Daycare Center. Then, I stayed home for 8 years to raise my children. Once my youngest was in Pre-K (1994), I began teaching at Odem Elementary as a first grade teacher. This will begin my 24th year as a first grade teacher at Odem Elementary.

Hi! My name is Nora Romero, and I am a first grade teacher. My husband and I, and our three children, were all raised in Odem and graduated from Odem High School. I have been happily married to my best friend, Rick, for 30 years!! We raised one son, Andrew, and two daughters, Selina and Bianca. Five years ago, my husband and I became grandparents to the most amazing little girl, Lilah Alyss!! She brings such joy to our family!!
Ever since I was in first grade, I knew that I would grow up to be a teacher. I enjoy working with young children because they are so loving and unpredictable. It is very important to lay a good foundation for the years ahead of them, and I am happy to be part of this process. My goal as a first grade teacher is to teach children to read fluently at or above grade level and to comprehend what they read. Also, I want them to fall in love with reading and become life-long readers and lovers of books. I try to expose them to various authors and genres, and I love reading books to them that I also enjoyed as a young girl. I also want them to be problem solvers, team players, and good communicators. I strive to maintain a loving, positive, and educational environment in my classroom. I want my students to feel smart, confident, safe, and to love coming to school!!
In my spare time(ha,ha), I love to bake, exercise, spend time with family, and play with Lilah!!!(My favorite thing to do!!!)
